  • 4 June 2004… Today is the third anniversary of my surgical breast biopsy/lumpectomy, with a diagnosis of Ductal Carcinoma Insitu. I am three years CANCER FREE!

I recently (2 months ago) had my routine follow-up mammogram. NO CHANGES! The radiologist said, “No need for another mammogram for a whole year, so see you next year!” Before this one, I’d been having them about every 6 months, on pins & needles each time. I’m more concerned with the bi-lateral breast, knowing I still have reminents of a suspicious calcifications cluster which turned out to be hyperplasia, or pre-cancer, found during a double biopsy performed by the radiologist. He wasn’t able to remove all of that cluster then.

I can’t express strongly enough for you ladies out there to go for annual mammograms after age 40. My cancer was NOT palpable; meaning it could NOT be felt. Had it gotten to the point where it could be felt, I’d have had to undergo much more radical surgery as well as chemo & radiation treatments, as had One-in-Eight & Windsong87, who are no longer with us.

Personally, I do not recommend the radical treatments that either one of those ladies went through. Much of my research on cancers & treatments has shown me that survival actually diminishes with chemo. There are a number of reasons that this happens. First off, the chemo tears down the body’s own defense mechinisms, making it susceptible to other illnesses. By doing so, it possibly allows other cancers to develop. Secondly, the chemos are poisons. It makes the patient so ill most of the time that the patient just gives up, feeling they’d be better off dead than in so much pain & misery. Third… there are a number of non-lethal herbal treatments for cancer which WORK. The National Cancer Institute KNOWS about them, having contracted with research companies to prove or disprove their efficacy. The research companies PROVED that some herbals CURE cancer, but apparently were unable to synthesize the plants’ chemicals & still have the efficacy of the herbs themselves. Since natural biotics cannot be patented, the companies cannot make the type of money off of them to make it worth their while, so the NCI sits on the results.

I offered the information I’ve learned to others fiting this horrible disease, but they didn’t ask for it. I assume that they placed complete trust & faith in their contemporary physicians… unquestioningly. Having watched my mom die from cancer, after enduring months of chemo & knowing my cousin, a surgical nurse, died from breast cancer after receiving all the contemporary medical treatments, I question this form of therapy. I have observed many receiving these radical treatments die shortly after or during chemo treatments. The receptionist & another employee (I don’t know his qualifications, but assume he was an LVN) both agreed with a vocal observation I made in the oncology clinic they work in about how the chemo seems to be killing more patients than it’s saving. They should know, being the ones who know who are receiving chemo & who aren’t. I doubt either of them would consent to chemo, should they ever be diagnosed with cancer.

  • hi mylene, congrats! … next week i go in for my 4 month mammogram & check up … the site of the biopsy is lumpy … the techs mentioned the right has fibers but not as much as the left side had … so we’ll see whether or not if there will be another biopsy on my schedule … don’t put yourself down.  you are a great person who cares to let others know what you went thru so they need not suffer as you did.  i’m thankful for all the infor you’ve shared.  hope you have a great weekend … hope it’s not too hot or rainy in hilo … laterz!

  • Congratulations on three years of being cancer-free!!
