  • Help!

I plan on entering a photo in the VA National Veterans Art Contest. I took some pictures today when I went for my first appointment with the VA Rheumatologist of the nearby Rainbow Falls in Hilo. I've narrowed my choices down to 3. I bounced those 3 off my son & he chose his favorite. I think I have one narrowed down, but thought I'd bounce them off you guys. Which do you think would have a chance at winning? By the way, these are completely unretouched! Click on the picture for a larger one.

    #1

    #2

    #3

Please place your choice's number in the comments. I need to decide soon. I have to print out the pic (at Wal-Mart), mat, frame it & replace the frame's glass with plexi-glass before next Wednesday, when I need to drop it off with the VA clinic's director. She goes to Honolulu, where they will judge the State's entries, on Thursday.

    Mahalo!

  • hard to choose between #2 & #3 ... the rainbow on the bottom is pretty.   #3?!

  • i'd pick no 2. it captures the fall the best.

  • The lighting and graydation is better in number two.  Nice pics!

  • Beautiful photographs! I think the leaf distracts the viewer's eye on the first one - I like the context of sky and foreground in the third one.
The only significant waterfall I have seen was in Yosemite Park - Vernal Falls; a rainbow formed at the base.

  • number one has more spray than number two, but its rainbow isnt' as bright. I think number one looks more "natural" because you can see the arc in the rainbow better than in number two. But number three is my favorite. I love everything except all the foliage at the bottom, is there any way you could take that out? They are ALL beautiful pictures!!! Looks like an awesome place to visit. i hope you win

  • My son likes #3, because of the sky. It's so rare to get such clear skies as we had that day, with the waterfall as full as it was. #2's rainbow is brighter & limits the foliage issue (more as a natural frame), so is my favorite.

I'm glad I decided to swing in for some shots! Previous times, it had been so overcast there could be no possible rainbow, or the water would barely be flowing.

  • I like #2, but my 7yo son likes #3.
