I've been in a 'blech' sorta mood lately, putting off doing things I should have taken care of right away. For example... my oldest brother's birthday is on Thanksgiving Day this year; something that only happens once every 7 years. I bought him a lovely (blank) card last Friday, but have yet to write the letter to include in it, much less get it posted in the mail.
The card is too pretty to spoil with writing in it. It's one suitable for framing, since it is of a Christian Riese Lassen painting aptly titled "Miracle of Life." It is put out by Island Heritage Publishing in Honolulu & only costs $2! Hallmark cards cost more & aren't nearly as lovely as those Island Heritage puts out! The store did have a Lassen birthday card, but the 'poem' inside was junk. ruined the effect of the image on the outside of the card by being lame. I couldn't find the individual card on their website, but they have a boxed collection of 7 of his works available for $10.99. What a deal! The one I bought for my brother is the one to the front right, & is linked in its name in the beginning of this paragraph. Gorgeous!
Do take the time to visit Lassen's personal website. Since starting to write this blog, I hunted it down again, since this is a different computer than the one I had bookmarked the site on. Since my last visit, his site has gone through tremendous changes... for the better. Give the site time to load, especially those of you with dialup connections, like mine. The wait is well worth it! The site's webmaster is wonderfully talented! Once past the main portal (click on the broadband link, even with dialup, because of the wonderful Flash effects), be sure to carefully use your cursor over the buttons, watching for some of the special incorporated effects! The sounds to go along with the site are very soothing. Enjoy! http://www.lassenart.com/flash.html
How I wish I were (half?) as talented as this wonderful artist! I cannot understand how he is able to sell off his originals at all. I doubt I could!
