  • Well, I sorta have running water again. Although my liner is torn nearly the complete height of the tank, I was able to prop it in such a way at the lowest tear that the tank is holding a few hundred gallons. It took alot of work, bleeding air from the system, but the pump is finally sucking water again. But after taking my bath last night, it had picked up a bit more air & wouldn't shut off.

I'm not sure why it keeps getting air in the system now. I keep having to run downstairs & open the faucet next to the pump until it spits out the air, then let the pump charge the pressure tank again. I suppose it would work better if my pressure tank bladder was holding air, which it hasn't in almost a year. The pump wouldn't have to kick on almost instantly when I turn on any water faucets.

While I was eating my supper, I looked up to see a strange kitty face, mewing & eyeing my food. A kitten, about 5 months old, had come in the front window apparently, where my kitties had long ago torn the screen. I gave him a piece of skin from the chicken I was eating to help him feel less afraid. Next thing I knew, he was right beside me, purring & trying to get at my plate. I had to hold him off to finish my supper.

The kitten looks a bit like my kitty, Percy... enough to be his son (but Percy was fixed longer ago than that). Maybe you remember Percy, who was hit by a car over a year ago & ended up with a broken fore-leg & lower jaw? Percy's injuries healed, but his lower jaw is misaligned. It doesn't cause him any problems though.

The kitten is afraid of the other cats here, except one, who I am guessing invited him in. He seems to follow her. Otherwise, he makes that meow warning to the others if they get near him. Of course, that's happening alot, since they want to investigate this newcomer.

The kitten had started purring right after I gave him that chicken & basically hasn't stopped since. He was on my pillow for awhile during the evening, purring like a washing machine. He's very underweight & when I ran my hand along his body, I found a kink near the end of his tail. He's definitely related to my kitties!

I brought 2 brother cats with us when we moved here over 6 years ago. Both of them had kinks in their tails, one with only a short stub of a tail. Some of their offspring have turned up with kinks in their tails over the years. One of the brothers disappeared, having most likely been chased off by his vicious brother, who fought with every tom in the area. I gave up the remaining brother to the Humane Society, tired of his constant fighting & spraying.

My son told me last night that this new kitten looks like a ring-tailed lemur. Because of the kittens huge ears & big eyes. I have to agree! His nose shape is like that of my cat Ghost. Ghost is a white cat with orange/tan shading like those of a Siamese. Cheryl told me what that breed is, but I've forgotten the name. I'm guessing that as this kitten grows, his whole face will elongate like Ghost's did. Makes for one weird-looking cat!

Ghost isn't fixed, because I was only allowed 4 cats when I took them in & he isn't aggressive. Do you suppose this kitten is his? I wonder where the mom is? How many other kittens are wandering the neighborhood like this one? Or does he belong to my neighbors who frequently disappear for weeks to months at a time, leaving their animals behind, to be 'cared for' by a friend who doesn't show up very often?
